Availability of Basic Sanitation Products

During the Covid-19 pandemic, utilizing various sanitary products such as soaps, hand sanitizers, etc. is of utmost importance. In villages, the importance of washing hands properly has not been propagated.

Ideally, a person should wash their hands with soap and water 11 times a day. This should be done especially after eating and using the restroom. The soap used can be in the form of liquid or a bar (anything that is available to the tribal citizens.)

There was a rumour that bar soaps may not be hygienic, however, scientists have confirmed no form of bacteria or virus; even the Covid- 19 virus; cannot survive on soap bars. Hand sanitizers must be used regularly according to the activities of a person during the day.

For example, a person working in a shop would need to use it regularly as he is handling various goods and interacting with a lot of people. In tribal areas, it would be a lot harder to supply these basic necessities than in urban areas.

It is our job as responsible citizens to spread awareness about this topic and support any initiative that aims to help promote this level of sanitation, which is exactly what Gift of Sanitation aims to do.

Gift of Sanitation has already donated 150 soap bars and 150 bottles of sanitizers to the tribals living in the Palghar District to help them improve their hygienic conditions, leading to good health and safety.
